Dave has a good piece up over at his place about “Open Carry” advocates. While I too grew up around guns, own a deer rifle and revolver, and agree with him to the ninety-third percentile, I can’t help but recall that:

An armed society is a polite society.

My simple disagreement is that while yes, “the Homer Simpsons and Buford Furrows” can be a problem initially, it’ll only take one or two of the bozos getting their asses shot off before the rest realized that packing a piece is more about responsibility than power.
